New Booth Furniture

Hey everybody. This is just a quick post to show off the new set of shelves I built for the booth this weekend. The uprights are made from 2x6's ripped in half and dowels. The shelves are cedar for light weight and stiffness. They are 5 ft wide 16 inches deep and taper as they go up to help with stability. They fold flat for storage and hold as much as two tables.

  1. Looks great, great idea using the cedar for the light weight of them; how did you attach the dowels?

  2. Hi Linda. Dowels are glued into holes bored into the posts. The rear posts are bored at 90 degrees and you use the slope of the front posts to find the angle for the front holes.

  3. Well I feel dumb as hell! Someone gave me shelves like that and I have been setting them up with the boards going through the ladders in a v shape(does that make sense). This set up is so much better, duh!

  4. Okay the degrees lost me, but I already made mine with the 2x2s instead of dowels, wish I had never painted the shelves though, your's are great.

  5. Tracey, most folks set them up that way. Mine have a brace (you can't see it) that locks the "towers" squarely together and keeps them from tipping to the right or left.

  6. Where is the lock and how does it lock it in place?

  7. There is a board that connects the two "towers" that attaches with 4 carriage bolts and wing nuts. you can;t see it in the pictures but it is about 3/4 of the way up
